The rise in inflation is as expected having a knock-on effect on petrol prices around the country, with Falmouth and Penryn already seeing large rises in the last two months.
The Packet last recorded a petrol prices round-up on March 11, when prices were considered to be high. You can read that article here. However, since then despite a 5p duty cut on March 23, the prices have risen still further to where they stand at today.
Statistics from data firm Experian Catalist show the average cost of a litre of petrol at UK forecourts on Wednesday, May 18 was 168.2p, while diesel prices reached an average of 181.0p per litre on Wednesday.
