The final line-up for a series of events to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee have been finalised by Penryn Town Council.

Penryn is celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee from Monday, May 30 to Sunday, June 5.

The Queen is the first British monarch to reach a platinum jubilee, with the official royal website reading: "On February 6 this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.

"It marks 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth."

The event's committee has put together a week of events to celebrate this momentous milestone:

  • Monday, May 30 7.30pm Temperance Hall - ‘A Right Royal Connection’ – Free Event. Meet past Penryn Mayors and listen to stories of past royal visits.
  • Tuesday, May 31 from 10am Penryn Library - Crown Making (all ages welcome) Free Event
  • Wednesday, June 1, 2pm Temperance Hall - Royal Garden Party hosted by the Mayor of Penryn with the Penryn Forget-Me-Not Singers followed by afternoon Tea. Bring along your Royal Mug or plate. Dress up and wear a hat. Free Event please reserve a seat,
  • Thursday, June 2, 2pm Temperance Hall – Royal Tea Dance with Ron Bunyan - Free event
  • Thursday, June 2, 7pm at Exchequer Quay - Royal Waterside Pageant with live music by ‘The Prevention’ 9.15pm - Lighting of the Queen’s Beacon – Free Event‘The Queen’ will arrive by a flotilla of boats at the quay at 7pm.
  • Friday, June 3, 7pm - Mayors Charity Dinner & Dance at the Falmouth Hotel (ticketed event).
  • Saturday 4th June 7pm Penryn Town Jubilee Carnival. Meet at Memorial Gardens 6.30pm. Come along and see the Falmouth Marine Band amongst others. Road closure till 8.30pm- Free Event
  • Sunday, June 5,1pm ‘Royal Party in the Park’ Trelawney Park gates open 12.30pm Live music from the sensational Motown Pirates & The Qwest. Refreshments available or bring a picnic. Punch & Judy 1.30pm 3pm. Free doughnuts and sweets for the kids. Free Event.
