After a two-year absence, Hellys International Guitar Festival will return to Cornwall.

The three-day event takes place at a new venue, The Epworth Hall in Helston, from August 18 - 20.

It will feature some international acts from across the world, with local performers also featured on the same bill.

One artist will be Brazilian guitarist Marco Campos. Talking about the festival, Marco said: "Hellys Festival had built a huge reputation in South America before the pandemic. It is wonderful for me that I will play there in August and I really can't wait to take part... and visit Cornwall for the first time!"

Hellys have launched their website this week, and there are no fewer than 18 performances over the three days - plus workshops, talks, guitar makers, poetry and more.

Headline acts include an unprecedented number of female performers this year, with German guitar superstar Jule Malischke and German/Belgian Laura Lootens with Liverpool's Eleanor Kelly and American guitarist Sarah McQuaid all in the mix.

Eleanor Kelly's programme features Latin music composed by female composers, most of whom struggle to get their sounds into the public eye in countries where equality is not always up to European levels.

Ben Salfield - festival director, said: "It's so exciting to be back - and we have perhaps our best line-up to date this year. Cornwall needs music again, and it's time for us all to move forward and start enjoying the camaraderie of it all once more."
