Throughout her 70-year reign the Queen has been a regular visitor to Cornwall.

From choosing to visit as part of her Silver Jubilee and Golden Jubilee tours, to her most recent appearance last year at the Eden Project, when Cornwall hosted the G7 Summit, Her Majesty has been a familiar presence in the Duchy.

Crowds of fans can always be relied upon to turn out for her visits, not least during her Silver Jubilee in 1977, when she was shown around Falmouth by mayor Geoffrey Evans – who repeated the honour during her Golden Jubilee 25 years later.

The Queen also visited Penryn, where she was greeted by mayor Mr JC Bedford Daniel and town clerk Reg Chegwidden, having not been originally scheduled to stop in the town but this was changed after local pressure.

Stops at St Mawes, Truro and Wadebridge completed the day.

For her Golden Jubilee in 2002 the Queen carried out a tour of the UK regions alongside Prince Philip, with her visit to the south west including a day in Cornwall.

The royal couple visited the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth before the Queen viewed a Celebration of Cornish Gardens at Trelissick while The Duke of Edinburgh visited Falmouth College of Art. They then rejoined for lunch to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Diocese of Truro and meet representatives of the community at Truro Cathedral.

It's not just official celebration tours that have seen the Queen in Cornwall, however. She has also visited to celebrate occasions in the community, such as opening the lifeboat station in St Ives in 2013, celebrating Cornwall Care's tenth anniversary in 2006 and opening the new Tremough campus of the Combined Universities in Cornwall later that day.
