A CORNISH brewery has teamed up with a coast path association to help support the care of 630 miles of trail.

St Austell Brewery has said it has put its best foot forward to support the charity looking after one of the region's 'most iconic environmental and tourism treasures,' the South West Coast Path.

A new corporate partnership with the South West Coast Path Association (SWCPA), according to St Austell, means the brewery will support the charity in its work to protect, care for and champion the 630 miles of National Trail which make up the path, whilst also welcoming the nine million visitors who use it each year to its pubs along the way.

St Austell will become the major sponsor for the South West Coast Path Association's '50th anniversary South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year’ competition next year.

They will also become a triple Business Mile Maker, contributing the £1,400 it takes to look after just one mile of the path each year for three miles.

St Austell Brewery's 18 managed pubs along the path will become 'Way Makers' - businesses located on or near the Path that support the SWCPA) - highlighting them as places to stop off along the Trail.

The pubs will also act as 'stamping points' for the South West Coast Path Passport, due to be launched later this summer to create a memorable 'Camino' style experience for walkers.

Head of Fundraising for SWCPA, Christie Burton said: "It’s fantastic that St Austell has come on board to support and help us in protecting this unique wildlife corridor and amazing natural resource for visitors.

"We’re looking forward to working with St Austell, its team and its customers to celebrate and support the Path and to create memorable experiences for walkers all year round."

Director of the SWCPA, Julian Gray, said: "The Coast Path brings £520 million into the regional tourism economy each year, supporting 11,000 jobs.

"However, the increasing impact of climate change and the huge popularity of the trail means the charity needs support to help look after it.

"It’s great to see a local company that benefits from the path doing its bit to give back."

Kristian Andrews, Head of Central Marketing, Digital & Design, St Austell Brewery said: "We’re delighted to have signed up as a corporate supporter of the South West Coast Path, funding the charity’s important work to protect and champion this iconic stretch of coastline.

"We feel very lucky to own pubs scattered all along the UK’s longest and best-loved national trail, serving up great hospitality, delicious food, and our draught beers - including Tribute, Proper Job, and korev.

"Walkers can travel on foot to many of our pubs using just the Coast Path, soaking up some incredible scenery en route, so this feels like a very natural partnership for us.

"We’re proud to be playing a part in showcasing our beautiful region and all it has to offer walkers and pub-goers as an all-year-round destination."
