A FALMOUTH care home has taken part in a royal tree-planting campaign in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Residents at Falmouth Court Care Home in Falmouth have been branching out in support of the Queen’s Green Canopy with a unique tree planting campaign to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) invites the nation to ‘plant a tree for the Jubilee’ to create a legacy in honour of the Queen’s reign that will benefit future generations.

As well as planting new trees, the QGC will dedicate a network of 70 ancient woodlands across the UK and identify 70 ancient trees to celebrate her 70 years of service.

When residents heard about the initiative, they couldn’t wait to show their support.

There was much debate amongst the residents to decide what type of tree they should plant and where it should go in the garden.

So, they took a trip out in the home’s mini bus to a local garden centre and in the end it was agreed than a Cotoneaster was most apt and that it should go in view of the dining room where it can be seen and enjoyed by everyone.

They all enjoyed looking around the different trees followed by a coffee in the café before returning home where Hugh, the Home Services Advisor then planted it for them.

Falmouth Court care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, who say they are committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals.
