A FALMOUTH man who pleaded guilty to common assault and being drunk and disorderly in a public place has been sentenced by a court in Cornwall.
Luke Quiller Smith, 35, of Tresillian Road in Falmouth appeared in front of magistrates at Truro Magistrates' Court on Thursday, May 5 on one count of common assault, one count of being drunk and disorderly in a public place, and one count of using threatening or abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence.
Smith pleaded guilty to common assault and being drunk and disorderly in a public place, with the offence of using threatening or abusive language was withdrawn.
The offences took place in Perranporth on Thursday, March 24 where Smith was found to have been drunk and disorderly at Perran Sands as well as to have assaulted a a male victim.
At his sentencing, Smith was fined £500 and made to pay compensation of £75.
He was also made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £50 as well as costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The court noted how Smith's guilty plea had been taken into account when imposing the sentence.
