The change in weather failed to deter hundreds of locals as many gathered on Market Street in Falmouth for a street party to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Thursday and Friday celebrations across Cornwall had been greeted with gorgeous sunshine, but the weather took an unseasonal turn for the worst on Saturday with grey skies, a bitter wind and the occasional drop of rain taking to the air.

This failed to dampen the spirits of all the party goers though, who took a seat on one of the many tables that began at 1pm near Mountain Warehouse, and fled all the way through the heart of the town, eventually coming to a finale at Natwest.

Attendees, young and old all received a crown and two flags upon arrival, which matched the Union Jack table tops and the bunting that waved above in the breeze.

Entertainment was provided throughout the occasion, with a choir singing some Great British classics, a unicyclist juggling at the same time as well as some of the Queens Guards posing high in the sky on their stilts.

There were food and drink refreshments for all in, with each table having its own set of squash. More substantial grub such as pasties, sausage rolls (which were delicious) and a variety of cakes were handed out by all outside the former Marks and Spencers building, with Mayor Steve Eva jumping in to lend a hand with serving the food.

A member of the council on the loud speaker system thanked all the work of the volunteers who helped to put the event together as well as everyone who braved the not so summery conditions to get involved in the fun.
