A MINERAL exploration company will be hosting two community drop-ins to discuss its upcoming plans.

Cornish Lithium, the mineral exploration and development company headquartered at the Tremough Innovation Centre in Penryn, is developing its Trelavour Lithium Project in a non-operational china clay pit near St Austell.

Lithium is a metal used in the production of modern batteries.

Global demand for it is increasing, primarily due to the growing adoption of electric vehicles.

The granite rock which underlies Cornwall contains lithium-rich minerals and Cornish Lithium is assessing the potential to produce lithium, in an environmentally-responsible manner, from these minerals.

As part of its stakeholder engagement plan for the Trelavour Project, the Company is hosting two drop-in sessions for local people at the ClayTAWC training, work and community centre in St Dennis to explain and discuss its upcoming development plans.

These include environmental surveys and studies as well as the next phase of drilling at the site.

These drop-in sessions will take place on Thursday, June 16 2022 from 4pm to 6pm and Saturday, June 18 2022 from 10am to 12pm.

Pat Forward, Head of Project Development - Hard Rock Minerals, said: "We look forward to meeting local residents, explaining our upcoming development plans for the Trelavour Project, listening to their views and responding to any questions and concerns.

"If you are a member of the community with questions about the project, or Cornish Lithium's progress towards developing an environmentally-responsible source of lithium for the UK’s battery industry, we would encourage you to attend one of the drop-in sessions and discuss them with our team."
