Devon and Cornwall Police Roads Policing Team took a car off the road after initially stopping a driver caught on their phone in Truro.

The team, who posted on their Twitter page, initially stopped a driver they had seen using a mobile phone at the wheel while driving through Cornwall's capital.

However, their enquiries soon discovered no insurance, it was notified as off-road and the vehicle had no MOT test certificate, all of which - including being on your phone at the wheel - are against the law.

Included in their update was an image of the car being taken off the road on a tow truck.

The law states that it is illegal whether online or offline to be on your phone while driving.

This still appllies if you're stopped at traffic lights, queuing in traffic, supervising a learner driver, driving a car that turns off the engine when you stop moving, plus holding and using a device that’s offline or in flight mode.

Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team monitor the roads in the area to ensure the laws of the road are folllowed by all.
