THERE will be an evening of entertainment, live music and a fundraising auction this weekend to raise money for a 16-year-old with a rare condition.

Millie Priest has a meningeal sacral spinal cyst, which leaves her in daily pain and with mobility issues.

She now hopes to fundraise to be able to buy a new electric wheelchair, which will help her have a better quality of life and gain some more independence.

Millie hopes the chair will change her life, and allow her to spend more time with friends and family and get involved on holidays and outings. She also hopes it will help her when she starts at college.

A fundraising event will take place at The Coach and Horses pub in Rosudgeon on Saturday, at 6pm.

On a poster promoting the event, Millie says: “The past eight years have been a real struggle, not just for me but my family. Living with pain daily affects everything I do.

“My decisions, choices and outlook on life all revolve around my experiences of discomfort, inflammation and mobility issues, amongst other things.”

People are being asked to donate items such as a box of chocolates, a bottle of wine or a piece of artwork for the fundraising evening.

So far, items in an auction available to be bid for include Newquay Zoo vouchers, a cut and blow dry at SHB Hair and a £20 voucher at Waterside Meadery.

The family have now raised £1,300, with hopes of reaching the £2,200 needed by July 1 to be able to buy the chair for Millie.

Leanne Priest, Millie’s mother, said: “I’m amazed at everyone’s kindness and generosity.”

The family hopes to be able to take Millie for a holiday in Devon if she can reach her target for the wheelchair.

Millie said she would like to thank everyone for their support.
