A major road near Penryn has been closed this afternoon (Tuesday) due to a 'nasty' four-vehicle collision involving three cars and a motorcycle.

The A39 between Treliever Roundabout and Asda petrol station has been closed in the southbound direction. 

Emergency services were heard attending the scene. 

Lilly Potter said: "Be careful everyone coming from tremough roundabout to asda nasty accident probably be better to find different route looks like road will be closed pretty soon."

Posting on Facebook Meg Smith said: "Road is now closed. Looks nasty."

In a post at 5:26pm traffic monitoring service INRIX said: "A39 Southbound closed, slow traffic due to multi-vehicle accident from A394 (Treliever Roundabout) to Asda Petrol Station. Reported three cars and a motorbike are involved."

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at 4.50pm yesterday, 21 June, following a collision involving two cars and a motorcycle on the A39 in Penryn.

"The male motorcyclist was taken to Treliske Hospital. Injuries not described as life-changing or threatening. No other injuries reported.

"The road into Penryn was closed near Asda and reopened at 7.55pm."
