HELSTON Central Methodist Church have welcomed a new Prayer Tree outside the front of the chapel, for people to leave prayers and messages to loved ones who have sadly passed away.
The idea of the prayer tree coming to Helston came after a visit to St Just-in-Roseland Church. Here, people have written their prayers and messages on notes and then hung them on branches of a prayer tree.
Central Methodist Church will host a ceremony at the church, located at the bottom of Coinagehall Street, in July.
Methodist minister Rev Danny Reed said people are "more than welcome" to come to and visit the tree to leave their prayers and thoughts. The church has chosen an Acer, a Japanese maple tree.
A date has not been confirmed for the tree ceremony as of yet.
In addition to this, the church will be holding the Big Central Event on Saturday, July 9.
From 4pm onwards there will be a bouncy castle, sweets, preserves, teddies and toys, books, bric-a-brac and tombola. There will also be stalls, side shows, cream teas, face painting, quizzes and lots of fun for all the family.
Between 7pm and 10pm there will be entertainment from Helston Town Band, Jack Curnow and Saxy Maids.
There will also be a hog roast at 7pm. Tickets for the event are being sold in advance for £5, to include a hog roast bap. The first slices will be auctioned for work with the homeless, the Epworth Centre, the chapel, Helston Town Bband and others.
A grand raffle will also be taking place, and there will licensed bar.
