Football sides are preparing to play their first matches since the end of last campaign as pre season preparations get underway on Saturday afternoon.

Reigning champions of the South West Peninsula League West (SWPL) Falmouth Town are in action on the road to Langsford Park to take on Tavistock AFC, 3pm kick off. The Lambs won the Toolstation Western League last time out and will provide a stern test for Andrew Westgarth's side who are gearing up for their first season back in the division since the 1982/83 campaign.

Town have made two signings so far this transfer window with youngsters Kayden Gordon-Dunn and James Swan both switching to Town from Truro City Reserves.

Falmouth will play their first game back at Bickland Park next Saturday (July 15) when they take on Truro City in the annual Aubrey Wilkes Trophy match.

Wendron United kick off their pre-season with a home tie against St Piran League West outfit Porthleven. Kick off in that match is at 3pm.

Wendron, who finished third in the SWPL last season as well as runners up in the Cornwall Senior Cup, have made one signing so far in the form of Cam Quirke on a dual registration basis from United Services Portsmouth, but the midfielder won't be available to play until September.

Port head into the season on the back of winning the St Piran League Cup last season and will be led by Jamie Webb who is taking the reigns as sole first team manager for the first time.

Helston Athletic don't kick off their pre-season until Friday, July 8 when they travel away to Okehampton Argyle.
