Wendron United have completed the signing of former Penryn striker Ryan Reeve.

The forward, who reached double figures in league goals scored last season, joins Dron after his former side pulled out of the South West Peninsula League in mid June.

Reeve had been on trial at Wendron and got off the mark in their first pre-season match against Porthleven, where Dron cruised to an 8-1 victory.

His strike, a cultured finessed shot into the bottom right corner was the sixth goal in the game, although the striker was denied more goals by the post and several saves from Shaun Jackson-guy between the sticks.

The former Penryn forward made over 250 appearances across 12 years for Athletic before making the move to Underlane.

The forward had been trialling with Jacob Cleverly on the day, assessing their performance after the game on Saturday Wendron manager Michael O'Neill said: "They both did really well the two guys that came in.

"They had a really good 70 minutes or so each. Hopefully, that has smoothed the road for them to make a decision over the next couple of days.

"I need to make sure that they are a good fit for the squad, they are players we have looked at and have tried to sign previously. For one reason or another it has not quite worked out.

"They obviously need to see if we are the right fit for them, we will find that out over the next days, but I am hopeful they enjoyed today."

As of yet Wendron United have yet to announce any further update onย Cleverly who produced a strong performance in midfield on the weekend.

The Dron play their second pre-season friendly on Tuesday, July 5 when they host Western League high-flyers of the 2021/22 season Mousehole at Underlane.

Kick off in that fixture is at 7:30pm.
