The annual Aubrey Wilkes Trophy fixture takes place on Saturday afternoon as Western League Falmouth Town host Southern League Truro City at Bickland Park.

The match will be Falmouth's second pre-season game after losing 5-0 to reigning Western League champions Tavistock in their first outing. You can read the report of that game here.

In last season's meeting between the two teams the White Tigers, who currently play their home football in Plymouth, cruised to a 5-0 victory to claim the trophy.

Ryan Brett secured a brace, plus there was solitary strikes from Dan Rooney, top talisman Tyler Harvey and Rio Garside as the visitors went on to lift the trophy.

Speaking ahead of this season's match Falmouth Town Manager Andrew Westgarth said he was looking forward to what will be another tough game for his side, he said: "It is always a great marker for us Truro.

"The two covid years they were brilliant with the league form then last year they blew us away, I thought they were excellent but then they didn't do so well in the league so it is funny how it goes.

"I am really looking forward to it. It is always a tough game, off the back of a heavy defeat. I know we don't read into results too much as such. If you look at it last year we lost 5-0 it was a tough old one but that is what pre-season is about."

Falmouth last won the trophy in the 2018-19 season defeating Truro City 2-1 on the day.

Truro kicked off their pre-season with a hefty 5-2 win over South West Peninsula League East outfit Elburton Villa last weekend with goals coming from Will Dean, Jordan Moyle, Stewart Yetton, trialist Jordan McCarthy and Teddy Horton.

Kick off at Bickland Park is at 3pm.

The Packet will have live updates, match report and post match reaction from the game.
