A MAJOR road between Truro and Falmouth has been blocked in both directions, adding yet more travel chaos already taking place in the area.

The A39 at Perranarworthal is reportedly blocked in both directions with traffic queuing after a multi-vehicle accident near the Mylor turn-off.

The congestion is affecting traffic coming through from Penryn and Ponsanooth and is likely to affect congestion already in the area due to the Stithians Show.

There is heavy congestion on the Treluswell Roundabout also, and vehicles are queuing along the Penryn bypass and up the hill towards the Treliever Roundabout.

Traffic from Falmouth University's graduation ceremonies taking place today is likely to add further disruption to what has already been a chaotic day for travellers.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging drivers to use alternative routes as the two accidents are causing "considerable issues" on the roads.

Three vehicles are believed to be 'badly damaged' and one person has sustained minor injuries following the accident on the A39 at the Mylor turn with emergency services in attendance.

According to INRIX traffic monitoring: "A39 both ways blocked severe delays, queueing traffic due to multi-vehicle accident between Mylor turn off (Perranarworthal) and A393 (Treluswell Roundabout, Lower Treluswell). Congestion to roads through Penryn, Ponsanooth and Carnon Downs. Traffic already heavy in the area due to the Stithians Show."

Visitors to the Stithians Show in Cornwall have taken to social media to voice their displeasure after reportedly waiting up to two hours to get in to the event due to traffic.
