A suspended police officer with Devon and Cornwall Police is due to appear in court next week in connection with a series of alleged offences including false imprisonment and attempted rape.

The force said that PC Matthew Tregale, aged 33, will appear at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 26.

PC Tregale has been summonsed in connection with eight alleged offences.

The allegations are of attempted rape, false imprisonment, sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault by penetration and two counts of coercive and controlling behaviour.

The force said in a statement that the charges relate to incidents which are alleged to have occurred whilst the officer was off duty between 2006 and 2021.

PC Tregale is currently suspended from duty, having previously been based with Teignmouth and Dawlish Neighbourhood Police.

In 2019 he appeared on Channel 4's 'Call the Cops' TV series.
