Callum Davis (pictured) deservedly won the prestigious Rider Cup at Falmouth Golf Club on Saturday writes Keith Rashleigh.

Callum carded birdies at the fourth, 10th, 11th, 13th and 17th holes on his way to a very impressive, best of the day, level par gross 70.

His net score was 63 with respective nines of 32 and 31. Runner up was Simon Hirst with a fine round of net 64 including birdies at the second and 17th holes and nines of 31 and 33 net. Third was David Hay also with a net 64 including birdies at the seventh, eighth and 17th and respective nines of 29 and 35 net.

The easiest hole on the day for the 72 entrants was the 11th which averaged + 0.23 while the most difficult was the par four 14th which averaged +1.66 not that Larry Lynch had ant problem with it as he carded a spectacular “Eagle” two. Other two`s were recorded by Graham Buck. Steve Thomas.
