UPDATE HERE: Investigation launched into Flambards ride incident as one taken to hospital

A ride at Flambards theme park in Helston has been temporarily closed following "an incident" earlier today.

A spokesperson for the theme park in Cornwall confirmed to the BBC that the Space Race ride had been shut on Tuesday "as a precautionary measure."

They added that there had been "an incident" at 11.45am, involving one of the carriages of the ride.

The spokesperson told the BBC that the ride would remain closed until an investigation had taken place.

Flambards declined to give any further details regarding the nature of the incident.

It is also stated on the Space Race page of the theme park's website that the ride is "temporarily closed."

The website describes the ride as "A simply fantastic spinning ride – the Space Race will transport you into darkness where you will reach dizzying speeds through the unknown."

Flambards is now running its summer holiday opening hours, with rides and attractions open seven days a week.

On Monday the park also confirmed which days it would be running its Firework Spectacular and live music nights through August.
