A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at 10.35pm last night to the A394 at Porthleven following a report of a single vehicle collision.
"A man has been confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
"The road was closed whilst officers carried out an investigation at the scene and remains closed at this time."
Multiple police cars were seen with blue lights heading up the A394 just after 10.30pm on Tuesday, with at least two ambulances also reported by one witness.
The crash was at the Stopgate junction to Porthleven, which leads down to Methleigh Bottoms.
The main road was closed in both directions as a result of the incident and police said it was expected to be closed for some time. It remained shut throughout the night but is understood to have now reopened.
A force incident manager for Devon and Cornwall Police told the Packet last night: "It is serious and the road will be closed for some time.
"We have a single vehicle RTC in that location.
"We have officers and other emergency services down there working at the location."
Traffic monitoring system INRIX reported the incident, saying: “A394 both ways closed due to serious accident from B3304 Porthleven turn off (Cornwall) to B3302 (Porthleven).”
Google traffic sensors showed the location to be on the main road, immediately at the junction, which is a known accident blackspot and has been the scene of a number of collisions.
