Devon and Cornwall Police have given more information about a fatal crash last night that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man. 

It is as they launch an appeal for witnesses to the incident, which took place at around 10.35pm on Monday (August 2).

A force spokesperson said that at a 19-year-old man from Helston was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which involved a silver Mini Cooper on the A394.

Police officers from the Roads Policing Team attended alongside the fire and ambulance services and the road on which the accident happened was closed for officers to examine the scene.

The road reopened at around 9am this morning (Aug 3).

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision near Porthleven last night, 2 August, in which a man died.

"Emergency services were called at 10.35pm after the collision involving a silver Mini Cooper on the A394.

"The driver, a 19-year-old man from Helston, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended alongside the fire and ambulance services.

"The road was closed overnight for officers to carry out a specialist examination of the scene.

"The A394 reopened around 9am today, August 3.

"Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for witnesses to contact them.

"They are also keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam of the incident.
