The main road between Helston and Hayle has reopened after being shut earlier this evening following a collision that led to the air ambulance landing.

The crash is reported to have involved a car and a motorbike near Sithney.

The road was closed between the Sithney Common Hill junction with Chris Nicholls Motors and the turning to Nancegollan. It is understood that the collision itself was close to the Chynhale turn off.

It is believed to have happened just before 6.30pm today (Wednesday), with a number of emergency service vehicles heading in that direction.

The air ambulance also landed nearby.

Traffic monitoring system INRIX is reported at the time: “Sithney B3302 both ways closed, delays due to accident, a car and motorbike involved between the car dealership and Nancegollan turn off.

“Air ambulance on scene.”

It has since updated to now say: "B3303 both ways re-opened, accident cleared from B3302 (Chynhale) to Chynhale Turn Off (Sithney). "

The Packet has attempted to contact Devon and Cornwall Police but has been told the force incident manager is too busy to answer calls at present.
