A team from RGB Building Supplies have spent July running 100k each in aid of the builders merchant’s chosen charity the RNLI.

Part of the team was Karen Richards, Branch Support Assistant at RGB in Porthleven, who took on the mammoth task of completing 50k of her challenge in one day.

While the country sweltered on Saturday, July 16 – one of the hottest days of the year – Karen was running The Black RAT, a challenging coastal run along the South Cornwall Coastal Path arranged by ultra-running event organisers MudCrew.

The run started from St Anthony’s Head, and saw Karen run through fields and villages, and over undulating paths before reaching the end point of Porthpean.

Alongside Karen, Ed Livesey, Branch Manager at RGB in Barnstaple; Jordan Darch, RGB’s Environmental, Health & Safety Manager, and Becky Mountford, a former HR and Payroll Officer at RGB’s head office in Barnstaple, also ran 100k each throughout the month.

The team has so far raised £585 for the RNLI.

Karen Richards said: "I’ve been running regularly throughout the whole month to build up my kilometres, but I was keen to really push myself.

"The Black RAT was definitely a challenge, made extra difficult because of the hot weather, but I was delighted to complete it.

"RGB is supporting the RNLI for the whole year.

"The charity does so much fantastic work across Cornwall, and I want to thank everyone who has donated to me and the team to help the charity continue to save lives and educate local people and visitors about water safety."
