A MUCH-loved arts centre in Falmouth has announced WE DID IT!! after a successful Crowdfunder campaign to fund vital repairs so it can reopen its stage surpassed its original target.

Announcing the success of its Save Our Stage (SOS), Crowdfunder campaign on its Facebook page, The Poly in Church Street thanked everybody for their support saying the Crowdfunder campaign was still open for donations despite achieving its target.

"We are pleased to announce that we made our Crowdfunder target of £15,000 (even better yet we surpassed it!)," they said.

"Thank you so much for your support, it means a lot to have the local community support us at this time.

"Watch this space - our stage will soon be back in action!

"P.S. Our crowdfunder page is still open for donations if you missed your chance to donate during our campaign."

The campaign aimed toraise £15,000 to complete vital repairs to the stage area of the Grade II listed building.

During its Covid-enforced closure, some much-needed renovation works took place, including removing and safely disposing of asbestos materials recently identified in the backstage area of the theatre.

One of Falmouth's best known pubs is sold - to some very well known new owners

While much of this work was funded through Poly reserves and assets, the venue needed support to complete the restoration of the area behind the scenes, including the changing rooms.

These include replacing curtains, ropes and fixings, repairing walls where asbestos boards have been removed, re-installing sound and lighting equipment and upgrading necessary electrical systems in the theatre.

The theatre is unable to reopen for full stage performances until this important work is completed. However now the Crowdfunder has been successfully completed the work to reopen the stage can now go-ahead.
