A YOUNG woman from Truro has been sentenced for a number of driving offences including using her mobile phone while driving and driving without third-party insurance.

Shannon Marie Holland, aged 25, of Pensilva Road in Moresk, Truro, appeared in front of magistrates at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on Monday, July 4 on one count of using a motor vehicle on a road or public place without third party insurance, one count of using a motor vehicle on a road without a valid test certificate, and one count of using a handheld mobile phone or device while driving a motor vehicle on a road.

The offences took place on Tuesday, January 11 2022 on the A390 at Highertown in Truro where Holland was found to be using her mobile phone while driving.

It was also found that Holland had been driving without third-party insurance or a valid test certificate.

The offences were proved in a single justice procedure.

During her sentencing, Holland was fined £660 and made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £66 as well as pay costs of £90.

Alongside the fine, surcharge and order for costs, Holland's driving record was also endorsed with eight penalty points.
