Show season got underway in Helston at the weekend, with an array of flowers, fruit and vegetables, cookery and artwork on display.

The Helston Methodist Circuit Craft & Produce Show took place at the Epworth Hall, behind the Central Methodist Church.

It was well supported, with tables laden with produce and exhibits.

It was a closely fought battle to win the cup for the most points in show, going down to the number of first, second and third prize cards, but it was Tom Christophers who won out, taking the title of most points by a man and also in the whole show, while Rose Diglick came a close second and won the trophy for most points by a woman.

Prizes were presented by Nigel Pascoe, deputy chairman of the stewards in Helston Flora Day Association.

An auction of donated produce – including some of the exhibits entered in the show – raised more than £700 for the work of Christians Against Poverty (CAP), which supports people across the circuit chapel areas, from the Lizard to Crowlas.

Rev Danny Reed said: "I want to thank everyone who has given their time – I'm very grateful for their efforts."
