Police have confirmed that two people were arrested in Falmouth on drugs charges following raids on a boat in the harbour yesterday.
As reported in the Packet, police raided a boat moored at the bottom of Upton Slip in response to alleged drug activity and anti-social behaviour.
A 52-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug and were released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Residents had long complained of anti-social behaviour and drug taking in the area centred on a boat moored on the quay alongside Church Street car park.
The arrests took place in front of hundreds of people enjoying Falmouth Week.
The police asked for assistance from Falmouth Harbour to remove the boat.
In a statement issued to the Packet, a spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Yesterday police conducted a MUDA Warrant on two boats off Church Street Car Park in Falmouth.
"This was as a result of prolonged issues surrounding reports of alleged drug activity and anti-social behaviour in that location.
"This has been an ongoing complex issue requiring a multi-agency approach.
"As a result of the warrants executed, Police located both Class A and Class B drugs.
"A 52-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug and were released under investigation pending further enquiries."
