The owners of a small craft business in Porthleven have announced that they will be closing their shop today after a break-in during the early hours of this morning.

Pisky Cove & Crafty Crabs, Porthleven is a business that sells ethically sourced clothing, commercial and hand-spun yarn was broken into around 1.40 am on Friday, August 12.

Shop owner Kate Walker received a phone call from a friend who lives nearby to the shop this morning, to let her know there had been a break-in and the police were called.

Fortunately, there was no cash present in the shop at the time, as the tills are taken home at the end of the day.

The double-glazed door was smashed, and it is thought those responsible were only in the shop for around four minutes, until a passing taxi slowed down outside the shop and scared them off.

The business has now said it will be closed today, due to the break-in.

Writing on its social media page this morning it said: "So sorry to say but in the early hours of today, we were broken into.

"We have just got back from boarding the shop and giving statements to the police.

"The police and I have watched the CCTV and have seen the culprits searching for cash throughout the shop….. which we don’t leave in there overnight. So we are left with no other choice than to remain closed today whilst scenes of crime officers come and get fingerprints and then we can try and clean up.

"Biggest thanks to our friend who saw them and called the police and the taxi driver who scared them away just by driving past."

Kate has asked that anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the shop's social media page https://www.facebook.com/piskycoveporthleven.co.uk and to contact police on 101 or via the force website.
