The Redruth International Mining & Pasty Festival is set to return to Redruth on Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September 2022.

After a two year break due to the pandemic, the Festival will take place this September over three days with something for everyone.

The Festival gets underway on Friday 9th September with an evening performance walk led by Cobweb Tours accompanied by the Redruth Festival Band from the town centre to Wheal Uny via St Euny Church.

Once at the old mine workings, there will be more music and storytelling before the stacks of the engine houses are smoked in memory of all the miners who worked in mines at home and abroad.

On Saturday, September 10, the action moves to Redruth Town Centre with food, live music including the Redruth Town Band and a mariachi band, market stalls, creative workshops and pasty competitions.

Festival-goers will be invited to bake or craft a pasty for judging with some great prizes on offer for the winners.

The weekend will end with the Redruth Fun Day in Victoria Park on Sunday, September 11.

Highlights include a dog show hosted by Last Chance Hotel Animal Rescue, space hopper racing, stalls, food & drink and entertainment.

Jenn Sandiford, Community Projects Manager at Redruth Town Council said: "We’re so excited to bring a weekend of family fun to Redruth for the International Mining & Pasty Festival this year.

"As well as celebrating the iconic pasty, we’re looking forward to lots of other entertainment and attractions to make it a real fiesta of a weekend."

Town Mayor Cllr Matthew Brown said: "We’ve really missed the International Mining & Pasty Festival and can’t wait for it to return next month.

"I’m particularly looking forward to judging the pasties, enjoying the entertainments and seeing the stacks at Wheal Uny smoking again in tribute to all the hard-working miners.

"It’s going to be a fabulous weekend so don’t miss it!"
