To mark the 35th Anniversary of the Martin Jennings Memorial Motorcycle Run on Sunday, September 11, organiser David Saunby will riding the motorbike he used on the very first run in 1988.

The machine is a Triton, which Mr Saunby built from parts in 1978/79, using a 1960 Triumph engine and a 1955 Norton Featherbed frame.

A Triton was quite a popular machine to be built by enthusiastic owners back in the 1960s, during the mods and rockers era, who were looking for that racy look, especially when hanging out the biker cafes, such as the Ace Cafe in London.

"It will be quite emotional to ride the Triton once again in the Jennings Run, having rode more modern motorcycles over the past years, but i am confident the Triton will serve me well, the same as it did 35 years ago," said Mr Saunby.

"It is also the machine that I went on holiday with in 1979 to the Isle of Man TT with Martin Jennings, and many other times with Martin and friends throughout the 1980s."

Many charities that have benefitted from the run over the past 35 years will be in attendance at the the start which include Cornwall Blood Bikes, Cornwall Air Ambulance, Guide Dogs UK, Little Harbour Children's Hospice, to say thank you for monies raised over the past 35 years by the Bikers of Cornwall, which is in the region of £150,000 for local and national charities.

This year's charity will be Cornwall Hospice Care.

The run, which is expected to attract over 1,000 motorcycles, will leave Tregurra Park and Ride Car Park Truro at 11am, and arrive at the finish in Falmouth at 4.00pm.
