Falmouth Town's boss Andrew Westgarth felt that his side dropped two points in their 1-1 draw away to Keynsham Town in the Western League.

In what was Falmouth's first away point of the season, it was Keynsham who took the lead through William Sage in the 67th minute.

But Town hit back through their top scorer this season Tim Nixon, and even though they threw caution to the wind with a number of attacking substitutions they couldn't find the all important goal.

It is now five league matches without a win for Town who are 12th in the Western League standings.

Speaking to the Packet, Westgarth said: "It's the story of our season, especially the story of our away season. I couldn't fault the boys, they were excellent. Again we weren't sharp enough in either box. We had enough chances. 0-0 at half time, we had plenty of chances in the first half.

"It's the way it goes they're going to get one and score it and unfortunately for us they got that goal.

"But credit to the lads, they never stopped after that. We were knocking on the door all game and that man, the one who is in form at the minute Tim Nixon gets us back to 1-1.

We then made so many changes, getting Charlie Edney on, Jack Bray-Evans on, Ollie Pickup and Luke Brabyn on, we full on went for it. We changed the formation, threw everything at it.

"I thought every one of them all had an effort or a chance to get the headlines. The frustrating thing for us is it is two points dropped. I know people will see it as our first point on the road, just from the way we played. For large spells of the game it was one way traffic so I was really disappointed just to get a point."

Westgarth revealed that Falmouth had to cope with a makeshift back line for much of the game after left back Tom Moxham picked up a minor injury in the first half. He said: "It was really hard to have a go at the lads because we played so well. Our build up play was really good, I thought we defended excellently.

"Like every side in this league they had good players who can cause you some trouble at times.

"We had a lot to deal with this year. We started the game with Tom Moxham at left back, he got injured we had no Kayden (Gordon-Dunn) or Wardy (James Ward) so we had Kellsy (Scott Kellow) starting at centre half.

"We drafted Sam Pickup at right back, so we had a makeshift right back. Kellsy at centre half, then when Moxy (Tom Moxham) gets injured you're thinking, 'we only have one recognised defender'. Kellsy went to left back and was outstanding Dre (Andreas Calleja-Stayne) went to centre back and was arguably just as good.

"So the boys had to work hard, we changed the formation, tried a few things to try and get the three points. But like I said it's the story of the season, we just fell short in their box unfortunately. It's all a good learning curve but it is bitterly disappointing."

Falmouth have a break from league action in their next game as they host Launceston at Bickland Park on Saturday
