A BUSINESS improvement district in Cornwall has revealed its schedule of main Christmas events for 2022.

Truro BID has announced its schedule of Christmas celebrations, kicking things off on November 18 with a Festive Friday.

In an update posted on its social media page, a spokesperson from Truro BID said: "We thought it would be helpful to give businesses details about Truro's main festive events so you can plan staffing levels.

"Truro BID will delivering Truro's Christmas Lights again and we're looking at slightly reduced operating hours e.g. considering having the lights turned on from 4pm until midnight daily.

"Celebrations launch in Truro on 18 November with Festive Friday Sponsored by Great Western Railway, and in partnership with Truro BID, Truro City Council and Pirate FM.

"Johnny Cowling and others will be turning on the Christmas Lights in Boscawen St at 7pm.

"Following the switch-on Father Christmas will take to his sleigh for a parade around Truro.

"The Big Festive Shop Small Market, hosted by Duchy Fairs, will be on Lemon Quay all day and into the evening.

"Last year we suggested that businesses stayed open for Festive Friday, and we recognise this was difficult due to payroll constraints.

"This year we suggest again that if able to, businesses trade late to take advantage of the huge audience numbers.

"There will be five Wednesdays late night shopping dates until 9pm from Wednesday 23 November.

"We're organising road closures for three Wednesdays only (7, 14 and 21 December) and also on Saturday 17 December, so customers can enjoy shopping in traffic-free streets in the run up to Christmas.

"Wednesday Late Night Shopping dates in December will have some food and drink stalls on Boscawen St from 3pm and street food all day on 17 December.

"On these four dates we'll also organise live festive street music dotted around town.

"We'll be working with Visit Truro again to promote Christmas in Truro via the Our Great Little Festive City marketing campaign."
