A PIZZA company trading from a horsebox near Falmouth seafront has had its licence to trade recommended for renewal.

Dough n Dowr, run by brothers Lance and Trent Turton, started the business operating from a pitch on St Mary’s Road opposite the car park in August this year.

They told a meeting of Falmouth Town Council’s licencing committee last night that initially they had started the business as a summer operation but found there was a “quite a bit of support” over the winter as well.

They said they had now employed a few people and wanted to extend the business to all year round.

They asked the committee to extend their opening hours to 10pm, although they would probably still close at 8pm, but it would give them extra flexibility if they were busy and have a queue so they can clear it.

Falmouth mayor Steve Eva backed the proposal saying the beach was used all year round and people were down there until 10pm and would be looking for somewhere to eat.

He said it should be supported as it gives a service to local people. The application was supported by the committee. It will now go to Cornwall Council's licensing committee for a final decision.
