PLAYING in front of many former Pirates who were attending a Past Players Reunion, the Pirates Amateurs won convincingly against their Devon opponents, writes Phil Westren.

The 'Ams,' who lost two of their opening three games in their first season in the Counties 1 Western West league, have now won four games on the trot, with an impressive points ratio of 199 for and just 65 against.

In this latest victory try-scorers were Connor Bick, Isaac Blackbourn, Sam Carter, Sam Coogan, Morgan Holman, Tom Hutton, and Josh Semmens. Scrum half Sam Carter also landed four conversions.

Tom Hutton was the Cape Cornwall Rum man of the match.

Commenting after the game, head coach Murray Westren said: "I felt we could have worked harder in the game on both sides of the ball, but having said that it was a good win to carry on the bit of momentum we have found in the last month, as it was to pleasingly integrate some lads who haven’t had a huge amount of opportunities yet this season and who play in a very similar way."
