The weather stayed dry in Camborne last weekend for its second Tykes n Trikes Day – which has been said to be a success by its organisers.

It was also the launch of the town's dinotastic cyclesauruses – four giant coloured cyclesaurses - which made an appearance in the town centre on the day of the tour.

This year's event was reported to have been a very busy day, including repeat entries from last year’s event; children dressed as zoo animals, and cartoon characters who each took to their bikes to cycle a 200-meter and 500-meter racecourse.

The event was managed by a team of volunteers and was funded by BID Camborne business through the annual levy with much-appreciated sponsorship support from the Tyacks Hotel and Tesco.

“The races created a real buzz of excitement, and I am so grateful to everyone who turned out to help,” said BID Camborne manager Anna Pascoe.

“Camborne has such a strong sense of community and that was clearly in evidence as people pulled together to ensure everything went off smoothly.

“Thanks for the generosity of Tyacks and Tesco, everyone who completed was presented with a good bag too.”

The Tots on Trikes race cycles a 200-metre course, whilst Tykes on Trikes six-10 years and teens on trikes 11-16 completed a 500-metre course.

Tykes n Trikes first took place in 2021 to celebrate Camborne being part of the official route for the Tour of Britain earlier that year.
