NHS Cornwall has reassured patients at a surgery in Helston that "they will always have access to a GP practice" after its two partners announced they are terminating their contact.

On Tuesday, the Packet revealed Dr Vyvyan and Dr Shaw, partners at the Meneage Street Surgery, will terminate their contracts in March 2023.

Whilst news of the contract termination has caused concern for patients registered at the GP practice, NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board has reassured patients that they will always have access to an NHS GP practice.

Patients have also been told there is no need to need to change GP practices and that more information will be available at the end of the month.

A spokesperson for the board said: “Patients registered with Meneage Street Surgery have received a letter regarding the future of the practice from April 2023.

“As the letter states, there is currently no need to change GP practice.

“Meneage Street will maintain a full range of GP services until the end of March 2023.

“We request patients to remain registered with the surgery for continuity of care.

"We are working with other GP providers in the area to explore what the future of the surgery might look like.

“We wish to reassure patients that they will always have access to an NHS GP practice.

“We will write to patients to provide an update at the end of November.”
