Ready the main sail and gather your crew! Hall for Cornwall’s swashbuckling Christmas adventure Treasure Island starring Edward Rowe (Kernow King) as Long John Silver opens its doors next week.

In a Cornwall Playhouse Production, hoist the mainbrace with this festive treat, packed to the gunnels with family fun, songs you’ll know, and enough silly jokes to make the sternest pirate giggle.

Like all the best stories, the tale begins at The Benbow Inn, where Jim, his Mum and their pet Chough have fallen on hard times. All looks lost until a tattered treasure map lands in Jim’s lap and their destiny is decided... if only they can find a boat, a crew, and safe passage to a mysterious faraway island.

It features a cast of 11 professional performers including Edward Rowe as Long John Silver, aka the Kernow King who has appeared in Fisherman's Friends The Musical and BAFTA-winning Bait, and Zahra Ahmadi as Captain Flint, who has appeared in Fit & Proper People and The Crucible on stage, while TV includes Black Mirror and Death in Paradise. She is also about to star in the spin-off series Beyond Paradise which is set in Cornwall.

Joining them will be Ned Cooper as Jim Hawkins (Doctors, The Full Monty, Emmerdale and Petrol Head), Ricky Oakley as Chuffy The Chough (Magic Goes Wrong, Dick Whittington, Doctors), Mia Jerome as Jim's mum Mrs Hawkins (Bing Live, Small Wonders, A Christmas Carol) and Chloe Endean as Pirate Maria (Long Way Back, Sensibility, Bait). Chloe first cut her theatrical teeth in Hall for Cornwall’s Youth Theatre.

Treasure Island is full of songs, dances, fun for audiences of all ages as well as magical special effects. There’s a song from every decade going back to the '50s, right up to modern day Dua Lipa.

Star of the show Edward Rowe said: "It's a proper all-out Christmas show. It's very funny - everyone's got funny bones in this.

"It's good to be working with some old friends like Chloe from Bait and Ned, who was in Hireth, as well as making new ones. We've even got two characters who speak Cornish and all the classic Cornish bits and bobs in there.

"I think we're in for a special Christmas at the Hall for Cornwall with Long John Silver!”

Treasure Island executive producer and theatre CEO Julien Boast said: “We’re thrilled to be unveiling our fourth show from Cornwall Playhouse Productions. It’s proof positive of our drive to nurture homegrown talent onto our stage.

"Chloe Endean has gone from strength to strength as a professional following her stint in our Youth Theatre. And of course, it’s wonderful to welcome back Edward Rowe to the Christmas show, while in Zahra we have a rising Westcountry star.

"t’s a brilliant cast and a show I’m immensely proud of.”

Audiences can join Jim Lad, his flamboyantly-dressed mum and a motley crew of ne’er do wells and wrong-uns for this Christmas spectacular in Cornwall.

Treasure Island runs at Hall for Cornwall from December 1-31. Tickets start at £15 from www.hallforcornwall.co.uk
