A builder fell to his death while working on new farm buildings near Truro, an inquest has heard.

Peter Jonathan Taylor Chilcott, 62, was working on the construction of two new buildings on Higher Trestrayle Farm near Probus on November 4, 2021.

Police were called to the farm by paramedics just after 5pm that afternoon, following reports of a man having fallen from height.

Sadly, Mr Chilcott was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The inquest into the death was heard in Pydar House in Truro on Tuesday (December 7) before senior coroner Andrew J Cox.

He heard that Mr Chilcott was working at Higher Trestrayle Farm as a self-employed contractor on the construction of two agricultural buildings.

Mr Chilcott was working at height in his non-integrated working platform which was attached to his telehandler forklift truck at a height of five to six metres above the ground.

Mr Chilcott overstretched and, in the absence of a harness, he fell to his death.

The coroner concluded that the 62 year old builder's death was an accident.
