A MOTHER of two from Cornwall said “there is no shame in asking for help” as she provides support to those who need it most.

Hannah Christophers, aged, 35 from Constantine, started Riverside Support Service Ltd in 2021 during the Covid pandemic.

Hannah wanted the staff and the clients to feel empowered and safe in a non-judgemental environment.

The company is run from an office in Hannah’s grandfather’s garden shed in Mawnan Smith.

The village holds a special place in Hannah’s heart, as it’s where her family comes from and there is a memorial bench in the village for her Granny Jean.

Her family has now joined the support company. Hannah's mum was a florist for 25 years but has now left to join the company and 16-year-old Liam, Hannah's eldest son, is helping out with the admin.

The single mother of two said: “My passion is making a difference and my determination in providing a company that is not afraid to not only think outside the stereotypical box but to challenge it.”

As a support company, Hannah offers tailor-made support packages to suit everyone’s needs, at a variety of price points.

However, in addition, once a week a free hot meal is offered for everyone in the community, and this is not just limited to clients. These are funded through a combination of donations and subsidised by the company.

Hannah said Riverside delivers, with no judgment or discrimination, a different meal each week - although the roast dinners are proving to be the most popular choice.

The staff have also been knitting and crocheting knitted scarfs, blankets, hats, and gloves for clients and the local community to keep them warm during the winter months - again for free.

Hannah is trying to think of more ways to help people and make a difference.

“There is no shame in admitting we will all need to be supported in one way or another.

“Asking or admitting you need help is the first step.

“My team can help by delivering a hot meal once a week or dropping off blankets. We just want to help.”

Hannah thanked her staff for all their help, including volunteering at the weekend to prepare hot meals, saying: “Without them, I wouldn’t be able to do this, so thank you to them all.”
