A PENSIONER from Helston wants to give back to the community by offering help to those who are struggling this Christmas.

Margaret Breasley, aged 66, has offered locals who may be spending Christmas on their own, or are struggling financially, a home-cooked roast dinner on Christmas Day, and she'll even deliver it, too!

Margaret said: “I always cook far too much and this year I will be cooking for two adults and one child, so I am happy to cook a couple of extra Christmas dinners.”

Sadly, this will be the first Christmas for Margaret and her family without her husband Alan who passed away in July. Margaret was Alan’s carer during the 15 months of his illness.

She said: “I was caring for my husband for a long time so I now have time to help others in need”

The grandmother of four is offering the roast dinner delivery to OAPs, single parents, or locals who will be on their own this Christmas or are struggling.

“I am hoping to do two or three portions.

“There must be somebody out there who would like one.

“It’s a tough time out there, it’s frightening,” added Margaret.

This isn’t the first time Margaret has given back to the community.

Margaret was very fond of Clair Day, who sadly lost her battle with bowel cancer in September, so for her 65th birthday last year, Margaret took part in a sponsored sea swim which saw her raise more than £1,500 for charities Bowel Cancer UK and Your Voice Cornwall.

“I believe you must give back – we all take from society, but you have to give back.”
