The person behind the Christmas tank travelling around Cornwall has been revealed.

Today, the Packet wanted to find out who was behind the tank driving around Cornwall with multiple people dressed as Father Christmas, and now we can reveal who was behind it.

Martin Chapman from Camborne, along with a group of friends, took to streets across the Duchy on Wednesday in a tank, which belongs to, and is driven by, Martin.

Martin said: "This isn't the first time we have done this. Before the pandemic hit, we had done it two or three times before.

"It's just a bit of fun to spread some festive cheer around Cornwall before the big day."

They travelled to towns in Cornwall, including Leedstown, Helston, Penryn, and St Ives, and visited some of the pubs, including the Blue Anchor in Helston.

Although some of the roads in Cornwall can be quite narrow, Martyn made sure he was cautious when driving the vehicle.

When they arrived in Helston, Martin revealed where he parked the tank. He said: "Outside the pub - there was a perfect space for me to park it safely."

Following their day of adventures in the tank, they decided to head to Angarrack - unbeknown to them how busy it gets at this time of year with people seeing the lights.

However, due to the popularity of the village lights during December and a lot of traffic and parked cars, the tank struggled to get through and the police attended the scene, Martin said.

Although this was the end of the road for Martin and his friends' Christmas tank journey, he eventually managed to get the tank out of the village safely and it is now back on Martin's land.

Martin and his wife Claire have discussed the possibility of the Father Christmas tank raising money for charity in the future.
