The mayor of Helston says he was "incredibly disappointed" to learn last night that Helston was not sucessful in its Levelling Up bid.

Months of work went in to forming the bid for Levelling Up funding from the government for three projects.

But last night it was announced the bid had been unsucessful.

Mayor Tim Grattan-Kane told the Packet: "Last night I was incredibly disappointed to learn of the decision in relation to the Levelling Up Funding bid on behalf of Helston.

"This was an application that had been several years in development, with a focused team of local volunteers, council officers and elected members.

"The chosen projects had received strong support from the community in a wide-ranging consultation process. The level of dedicated work undertaken by the team to prepare the bid was astounding and represents thousands of hours of activity, particularly throughout the spring and summer of 2022. I thank them for their efforts.

"As you can imagine there is an incredible sense of disappointment amongst the team but we are already seeking meetings to find a way forward for Helston and will continue to seek funding for these projects."
