POLICE enquiries are ongoing after a man in his 90s died after sustaining 'serious burns' at a property in Newquay.

Police were called to Henver Road in Newquay just after 8:30am this morning to reports that a man had been injured at a property. 

The man was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital via ambulance where he later passed away.

According to D&C Police, the death isn't being treated as suspicious and enquiries are still ongoing on behalf of the coroner. 

No one else was injured during the incident and the man's next of kin have been informed. 

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall said: "Police were requested by the fire service to attend Henver Road, Newquay just after 8:30am today (Thursday 26 January) following reports of a man having sustained serious burns within a property in the area.

"A local man in his 90’s was taken Treliske Hospital by ambulance, where he sadly later died.

"No one else was injured during the incident.

"His next of kin have been informed and this death isn’t being treated as suspicious.

"Officers continue to undertake enquiries into this matter on behalf of the coroner."
