Plans have gone in to demolish a house on one of Helston’s main roads and replace it with five houses on the same site.

Fearnmore sits on a large plot off Falmouth Road, not far from the Turnpike Roundabout.

The proposal is to knock down the existing four-bedroom property and build two four-bedroom houses, plus a trio of three-bedroom houses.

Cornwall Planning Group has submitted documents on behalf of Boss Property Group Ltd showing plans for each property to have two car parking spaces, with an additional making 11 in total.

It states: “A minimum of two car parking spaces can be provided, with additional amenity area that could provide visitor parking in the future.

“The proposed vehicles can enter and leave the site in a forward gear without the need to reverse back onto a public highway.

“The consideration should also be given that the area is highly sustainable and there is no requirement to provide on site parking in support of our application.”

Cornwall Planning Group said access would most likely be from a new road down the side of the existing site, explaining: “In principle access to the site is now accessed through the recently approved highways entrance to the rear housing development.”

There are separate plans for 22 properties to be built on land north of Tesco, including six marked as ‘affordable’ homes, made up four intermediate rent and two discounted sale.

The Cornwall Council website currently shows the property development as 'awaiting decision', under planning reference PA21/04897.

However, work on the access road coming off Falmouth Road has begun.

With regards to the latest application for five homes at Fearnmore, Cornwall Planning Group said the existing entrance to the property would be kept, as an informal visitor drop off area, and for deliveries such as post.

The agents concluded: “We believe that the details submitted clearly show that the site can be developed in a way that the locality will not be adversely affected; indeed, there is a clear opportunity to provide a high-quality development to meet the needs of present and future generations.”
