Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist sustained "life changing" injuries in an accident near Hayle yesterday.

Police are investigating the accident at Upton Towans at the junction with Treve Lane yesterday morning involving a motorcycle and a car.

The motorcyclist suffered life changing injuries say police and was airlifted to Derriford hospital by air ambulance. They say there were no reports on any other injuries.

The police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any dashcam footage to come forward to help them with their investigation.

They thanked the public for their support and patience after the accident caused long delays on the roads.

A police statement said: "Police investigating a road traffic collision at Upton Towans, Hayle, on Wednesday, February 22 are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Upton Towans, at the junction with Treve Lane, Hayle, at around 10.25am.

"The motorcyclist sustained life changing injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance.

"There were no reports of any other injuries.

"Police would like to thank the public for their support and patience while the road was closed. It was reopened at around 5pm."
