A DEVON and Cornwall Police officer will be appearing in court next month on further charges, this time of alleged sexual activity with a teenager. 

PC Matthew Tregale, aged 33, who is currently suspended from duty, has been summonsed before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 8 March where he will face two charges of alleged non-penetrative sexual activity with a female aged 15.

Tregale will also be appearing before Bristol Crown Court on Monday 27 February in connection with charges which relate to incidents alleged between 2005 and 2021.

The charges, which were brought against him last year, include four counts of alleged sexual assault by penetration, two counts of alleged false imprisonment and attempted rape, and two counts of alleged sexual assault.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "A Devon and Cornwall Police officer who stands accused of sexual offences is due to appear in court next month to face further charges.

"PC Matthew Tregale, aged 33, was charged last year with four counts of alleged sexual assault by penetration, two counts of alleged false imprisonment and attempted rape, and two counts of alleged sexual assault.

"He was also charged with allegedly putting a person in fear of violence by harassment and two counts of alleged controlling or coercive behaviour.

"Tregale is next due before Bristol Crown Court on Monday 27 February in connection with these charges, which relate to incidents between 2005 and 2021.

"In addition, Tregale has been summonsed before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 8 March where he will face two further charges of alleged non-penetrative sexual activity with a female aged 15.

"These two charges relate to incidents in 2014.

"PC Tregale is currently suspended from duty."

PC Tregale had previously been based with Teignmouth and Dawlish Neighbourhood Police, and, in 2019, appeared on Channel 4's 'Call the Cops' TV series.
