Devon and Cornwall's Police and Crime Commissioner oversaw the re-opening of an enquiry office between Falmouth and Penryn and took the opportunity to take lots of pretty pictures and even brought in some familiar faces to mark the occasion.

While this is most likely a good thing for the residents living in an around Falmouth and Penryn, what might be good also be good for those residents is a police service that are able to provide both crime and stop and search data.

Due to moving to a new system in November 2022, Devon and Cornwall police are currently having 'various issues' and have not been able to provide crime data and stop and search.

Back in November of last year, D&C Police said it would provide this data once the issues were rectified, yet this still has not happened.

Alongside these data issues, D&C Police was also last month that it must make “urgent improvements” after it was found to be inadequate in several areas, according to the police inspectorate.

So, on the one hand, great, we've got an enquiry office back. Should it have closed in the first place? Probably not. Is it good that's it's open again? Probably yes.

But, in the opinion of this Skipper, Devon and Cornwall Police still have a long way to go, and maybe being able to provide data on how well they're doing their jobs, as well as how safe our communities are, would be another step in the right direction?
