The RSPCA is looking for help in finding the owner of dog whose emaciated body was found dumped in Cornwall.

The animal welfare charity was contacted by a member of the public, who made the upsetting discovery of the lurcher’s body on January 30.

It added that the dog was found "dumped" in Higher Brea, not far from Camborne.

Now the RSPCA is appealing for information to help trace his owner, due to the microchip details not working.

The only thing the charity knows from the chip is that the dog was called Odie.

Animal rescue officer Betty Burns, who is investigating for the animal welfare charity, said: “We’ve been trying to find where he has come from since the discovery but unfortunately his microchip details were not up to date and this line of investigation drew a blank.

“We’re keen to hear from anyone with any information about him. We know from the chip his name was Odie.

“If anyone recognises him or thinks they may know who his owner is then I’d urge them to get in touch with us by calling our appeal line on 0300 123 8018 and leaving a message for RSPCA inspector Jim Farr.”

People can help the RSPCA continue rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals in need of care by visiting the charity’s website or calling the donation line on 0300 123 8181.
