Dark secrets of Cornish history will be revealed this April during a new ghost tour starting in Falmouth that promises to give members of the public the 'spooks'.

The Falmouth Ghost Tour will start in Falmouth this April.

Run by Will Hazell, the tour guide behind the Falmouth Uncovered tours - who can often also be seen dressed as a pirate strolling around Falmouth - will lead members of the public through the town whilst telling stories and revealing dark secrets of Cornish history.

Will said: “I have been guiding people through historical Falmouth for a few years now, so I thought it was time to add in something different.

“A ghost tour still involves some history, but there’s also room to take the theatrics up a level.”

Will says he thinks the tour will be popular with locals and people coming to Cornwall on holiday: “If you live here, there’s something wonderfully creepy about hearing about familiar places’ and dark secrets, but for holidaymakers, it’s a particularly fun way to learn about the place.”

The tour includes ghosts mentioned in archival records, as well as those encountered by modern locals to Falmouth, Will added: “I initially ran the ghost tour as a one-off last Halloween.

“As we walked down Church Street, we discovered that one of the attendees owned a shop there, and we got to hear all about her ghostly experiences after closing time!”

Will is looking forward to the tour, although the weather could be an issue.

“I am really excited to see how the ghost tour goes. The only thing I am worried about is how sunny it is going to be at 6pm for most of the season - things are less spooky in daylight!” he added.

The ghost tour will run every Friday at 6pm between April and October. It will start at the Fal River Visitor Centre. Tickets can be booked (£10 for adults and £8 for children.
